March 17, 2021. Today, ahead of the release of their highly-anticipated new album, acclaimed Montreal-based outfit Bell Orchestre shares the official music video for album climax VII: Colour Fields. House Music is their first new full-length record in over 10 years and arrives this Friday.
Directed by Kaveh Nabatian, with cinematography by Nicolas Canniccioni and editing by Matthew Rankin, this standalone video sees a vivid visual departure from the black and white imagery previously shared of their performance film, which premiered to fanfare as part of Southbank Centre’s Inside Out series in London this past weekend, and at last month’s Ecstatic Music Festival in New York.
Set amongst the pristine Canadian woodlands, it features the full band — Sarah Neufeld (violin, vocals), Richard Reed Parry (bass, vocals), Pietro Amato (French horn, keyboards, electronics), Michael Feuerstack (pedal steel guitar, keyboards, vocals) Kaveh Nabatian (trumpet, gongoma, keyboards, vocals), and Stefan Schneider (drums) — with both the colours of the autumnal landscape and their sonic odyssey heightened by blurry, warped lenses and pulsating flickers.
