Daniel Brandt, co-founder of Germany’s electroacoustic ensemble Brandt Brauer Frick, joined the Erased Tapes family with his solo debut album Eternal Something – which is available worldwide. He now unveils the stunning new video for the title track which was premiered via Nowness, featuring choreographers Fukiko Takase and Mbulelo Ndabeni.
Words from video director Bertil Nilsson:
"I was really fortunate to be able to work with Fukiko and Mbulelo, who are both extremely talented as choreographers and performers. They have a really exciting dynamic and each bring something very different to the work. We worked very collaboratively together on how to visualise the movement in response to musical impulses. From that intuitive process an ambigious narrative arc was formed, starting in harmonious unison and through growing tension ending up revealing something a lot grittier. I used the mirrors to, quite literally, reflect the themes of repetition and recursion in the music and choreography. We worked with the distortions and imperfections in the reflective surfaces to visually explore the evolving relationship between the dancers, as well as to add to the overall raw feel I was after."
