French producer Crayon shares his new single Home Safe, featuring French-Cameroonian artist Yamê and JPL, the singer of Australian indie band Tora. The track is paired with an official video that brings his distinct blend of French rap, electronic, and folk into a reflective and forward-looking piece.
The video is directed and choreographed by Sulian Rios. Known for his work as featured on NOWNESS, Rios’ visual storytelling complements Crayon’s journey back to the sounds that have profoundly influenced him.
Crayon describes Home Safe as an intimate tribute to the music that shaped him, from the folk records of his childhood to the jazz sessions he hosted during lockdown in his Paris apartment. “It’s about reconnecting with all the music I found comfort in,” he shares, “the sound and smell of the fire in our little suburban home outside Paris, with my stepdad’s folk records in the background, and the clandestine jazz gatherings every Sunday twenty years later during the second lockdown.”
Home Safe is, in Crayon’s words, “nostalgic yet modern, melancholic yet hopeful.” He adds, “Creating this music allowed me to reflect on the past and present, to cope with what was happening, and ultimately to find acceptance, peace, and quietness of the mind.” Drawing from years of diverse collaborations, Home Safe brings together his past and present in a way that feels both timeless and resonant.
Currently, Crayon is preparing his highly anticipated debut solo album, set for release in 2025. Featuring a wide array of guests, promises to blend classic influences with a contemporary flair, expanding his reach across genres and borders, and marking a fresh milestone in his career.
