Bell Orchestre share another double single in the shape of Stripes — featuring an emotive remix courtesy of the late Japanese producer Susumu Yokota, whom the Who Designs Nature’s How EP reissue is dedicated to, and the original studio version taken from the forthcoming reissue of As Seen Through Windows.
"We were massive fans of Susumu Yokota’s music and still are — Sakura remains one of the most interesting and beautifully original ambient records I’ve ever heard to this day, and all of his music was tragically immortalized by his sudden passing in 2015. I had never met but sent him an unsolicited email with an mp3 of Stripes attached, and he replied simply with “you make interesting music. —Yokota“. Coming from such a fascinatingly unique music maker, this response felt like all one could possibly ask for." — Richard Reed Parry
Originally only released on CD and sold on tour, the Montreal outfit’s remix EP entitled Who Designs Nature’s How has been pressed on vinyl for the first time ever, due May 26. In addition to Susumu Yokota’s reinterpretation, it also features contributions from fellow Canadian producer Tim Hecker, dub legend Mad Professor, Canadian DJ and producer Kid Koala, as well as long-time friend Colin Stetson amongst others.
