Ahead of his greatly anticipated solo tour, the unmistakeable Douglas Dare reveals new piano-led single Behind The Walls — a thoughtful off-cut from 2020’s acclaimed full-length album Milkteeth, which fans have been waiting two years to experience live.
Before finally taking this record on the road through the UK and Europe, Behind The Walls sees Dare turn the lens inwards once more, and reflect on his childhood experience from an elevated point of knowledge.
“When we're children, sometimes the adults around us will talk in code in order to keep something from us. Innocent things can be hidden from young ears like swear words or the confirmation that the tooth-fairy doesn't really exist [shock horror!] but also darker and more complex issues are camouflaged. When I was nine years old and my parents separated, my mother told me that she had been planning to leave my father for many years but she wanted to protect me from ever knowing this; this is the part she admitted to but there was far more besides that I already knew. Behind The Walls is an admission of truth twenty years after-the-fact.”
To mark the start of the tour, today also sees the release of a Milkteeth Special Edition including Behind The Walls as a bonus track, available on all digital platforms.
