We are currently seeking an experienced General Manager to join our team. Working in our London office and reporting directly to the company’s director, the chosen candidate will oversee all aspects of Erased Tapes Music’s publishing business, maintaining a strong focus on sync licensing and international sales and ensuring that musical copyright owners are compensated for all public uses of their work such as radio and television broadcast. We are looking for a resourceful and decisive leader who is both creative and pragmatic.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Oversee daily licensing and publishing operations
Build, train and motivate a strong team
Create, review and implement business procedures
Manage relationships with key stakeholders (composers, agents and global sub-publishers)
Strategise international growth, produce reports and recommendations
Draft, negotiate, and issue licensing contracts
Compile and analyse sales reports, budgets and financial statements
Attend industry events, research trends and competitor activity
Create marketing and sales proposals, strategies and targets
Monitor and evaluate results and client reactions
Manage brand communications including website content and quarterly newsletter
Liaise with company director on A&R, source new catalogue
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 5 years experience with music licensing business affairs and/or entertainment law
Ability to draft contracts and interpret/understand legal language and licensing terms
Advanced understanding of musical copyright administration
A proven ability to develop and grow small businesses
Solid awareness of trends in important global markets (especially North America)
A keen sense of organisation and a high attention to detail
A passion for both classical and contemporary music
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
Desired Experience & Skills
Masters degree or equivalent experience in related field (MBA, entertainment law, or music business administration)
Formal experience or training in marketing and sales
An established network within the creative media industries, particularly in key licensing markets (London, Los Angeles, New York)
Interest in and knowledge of cultural events, international music venues, and popular media trends
Creative editorial copywriting and proof-reading skills
Additional languages would be an asset, especially German and/or French
Systems
Mac OSX, FileMaker, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Salary
£25-£32k per annum, based on experience
28 days annual leave
Location: London (SE17, Zone 2)
