Nils Frahm is known to many as a producer and piano player but now he has teamed up with David Klavins to specially design and create a custom piano.
David is the creator of the M 370 - the tallest piano in the world, aka 'The Giant' which was turned into a virtual instrument and sample library by Berlin-based Native Instruments.
David alongside Nils will give a special presentation at Michelberger Hotel on June 10th, where they will unveil their new piano, which they have named UNA CORDA.
"I want people to touch it. I want people to see it. I want people to ask questions. I want people just to think about the idea of instruments and see how important instruments are to musicians, and how much they change their music. I think instrument builders play one of the biggest roles in the music industry. I’m really aware that people who create instruments for musicians are as important as the musicians. Why should I be the star? The person who builds the instrument should be a star as well." — Nils Frahm in his interview with Electronic Beats
Nils also releases the official animated music video for track ‘Re’ from his 2012 album ‘Screws’. Inspired by the recordings Nils made while recovering from an injury to his thumb, director Balazs Simon created this wonderful music video, which received a Vimeo Staff Pick and Noisey called 'an animated slow motion dream’.
"When I first heard Nils' new album 'Screws' I instantly fell in love with it - not only because of the music, but also because of it's backstory. Listening to 'Re' planted a story and a world in my head, so I decided to create a music video for it." – Balázs Simon
